Typographic Metaphor

The brief was to create a work mark that captures the spirit of the place given to us. Madison has many unique aspects to it. The main idea I chose to work with was the political elements of it. Madison is Wisconsin’s capital and has great influence in politics. The capital building is also a well-known landmark to the region. I chose to turn the A into a small illustration of the capital building and put a star in the O as capital cities are marked with a star on a map. I paired these elements with a rounded typeface to match the rounded dome of the building. Lastly, I put the word mark on an image of the Madison skyline with the capital building visible.
